Badr University in Cairo (BUC) is CIRA’s first venture into the higher education sector which commenced operations in 2014. As of the 2021/22 academic, BUC’ 45-acre campus now caters to more than 14,000 undergraduates across 16 faculties.. The university’s strategic location in Cairo’s far east brings quality education to students from underpenetrated governorates such as Ismailia, Suez, and the Delta.

BUC retains an extensive network of international partnerships with 25 top-ranked universities to ensure continuous development of the university’s curricula and staff, enabling the university to offer its students a high-quality undergraduate experience while charging tuition fees below its peer institutions’ average.

BUC has brought a number of new and highly sought-after programs into Egypt, including Egypt’s first and only Nursing school and its first private School of Filmmaking and Performing Arts, was launched in the 18/19 academic year. The Group’s strategy is to continue introducing high demand and underserved specialties, with its rapidly growing student body (14/15 – 18/19 CAGR: 67%) set to enjoy access to an additional seven faculties by 2022. CIRA aims to expand the university’s capacity from c.13,000 students to c.29,000 over the same period.

CIRA is also in the process of expanding the brand’s footprint by opening a second branch of Badr University in Assiut. The four-faculty branch of BUC in Assiut is scheduled to begin operations in September 2022.
